A press conference dedicated to the first national system of certificate testing in a foreign language "Lingvotest" was held in Nizhny Novgorod
A press conference was organized in Nizhny Novgorod
On January 17, 2023, a press conference dedicated to the first Russian certificate system in a foreign language "Lingvotest" was held in Nizhny Novgorod. At the event, issues devoted to the creation of a national language testing system, technological equipment of the test center in Nizhny Novgorod and the role of the event for the region development were raised.
Nikita Anisimov, HSE’s Rector, Lemka Izmaylova, NAA’s Director, Mikhail Kozhevnikov, President of the Prosveshchenie Group of Companies, Andrey Sanosyan, Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Regionas well as Nizhny Novgorod HEIs’ heads were the conference speakers.
Nikita Anisimov, HSE’s Rector, emphasized that the main goal of the national certification testing system is to replace foreign analogues, such as IELTS and TOEFL, which were currently inaccessible to Russians. He also paid special attention that, unlike foreign analogues, all personal data of testing participants would be stored in Russia.
Lemka Izmaylova, NAA’s Director, shared with the her experience of holding the first testing session in Moscow, spoke about the specifics of testing and the role of the Russian Accreditation Agency in organizing the testing process. Ms Izmaylova emphasized that there was no need to turn to foreign analogues anymore. She said that the organizers were extremely pleased with the first test results, the participants showed good knowledge. NAA’s Director also added that the geography of Lingvotest would expand in the near future.
At the end of the test, a participant receives a temporary certificate presenting the results of English language proficiency. The certificate has a unique identification number, which is entered in the NAA’s register.
Mikhail Kozhevnikov, President of the Enlightenment Group, noted that the main task of the first Russian certification testing system is to give Russian citizens access to a high-quality certified internal English exam, as the demand for English knowledge in the labor market continued to grow.
